I am particularly careful about leaders who primarily influence loyalists through charisma. They tend to be either extremely good or utterly deceptional. They could have obvious faults conspicuous to public eye but they’d ride on the same to project perfect personalities. It’s a mind game. As such, to really know their true colours you need to give them time.
Thus far those of understanding already know what am referring to. Of the top 3 presidential candidates Chilima is the most charismatic. I personally believe the man has unparalleled work ethics. I trust him for his ability to perform, he has the capacity for tremendous results. Unfortunately his integrity is highly questionable. I wouldn’t conclude his charisma portray good leadership. Perhaps fate found him on the bad side of history at the emerging of an opportunity ? Because there are so many unanswered questions which even himself can’t answer. But you see, he’s charismatic enough to superimpose his irregularities by putting the blame on another and most of the loyalists happen to overlook.
Just imagine I took you as a partner on a venture, we worked together peacefully and enjoyed benefits thereof all along only to emerge five years later accusing me of all the damage, the plunder and the mess that has happened in it! You don’t even want to admit for one thing being responsible for, for the mess. That’s the reality of Chilima, very questionable. A leader of integrity should man up and be responsible for his mistakes. Should we suppose that all the problems that arose in the past 5 years were orchestrated by APM alone ?
I’m honestly not convinced yet. You all might ignore the red flags but if I had to vote I wouldn’t cast mine for him, for now. As of now I’d vote for Chakwera. He’s got his own faults but at least his integrity is intact. I mean, leadership skills are the same everywhere and he managed to run one of the biggest institutions in the country for 20 years. No scandals, no bad stories, perfect management. I think I can trust such a man.
But you know what? To you all Chilima loyalist am a very neutral fellow, if at all it happens that Chilima wins don’t think I’ll have hard feelings. I’ll be as happy as you. Because I believe in the man but I think he’s not ready yet. And since we can’t put APM on the throne, Chakwera fits perfectly.
IF YOU WERE CAUGHT IN BETWIXT AND YOU ASKED ME, I’D TELL YOU TO VOTE FOR CHAKWERA FOR PRESIDENT.
