Welcome to style. It is my absolute pleasure, to introduce you guys to designer Yamie Chelenga, who goes by the name Ziel designs. She designs women’s clothes and she recently came up with a summer collection.
I was privileged to collaborate with her for my shoot. I thought I should take the opportunity and dive in to get to know a little more about her and ask those much needed questions that we all may be eager to know the answers to. Enjoy!
Who is Yamie?
My name is Yamie Chelenga, 24 years of age. I am a fashion designer currently studying cosmetology at MACOHA. I am also an amateur model.
When did you start designing and where are you based?
Started designing when I was young, somewhere around the age of 17. I went to a designing school in 2016 after I graduated at LUANAR and started cosmetology earlier year.
Tell us more about the designs you make? What inspires your work?
I love designing sophisticated and revealing outfits, not too revealing I must add. I also love simple outfits; less details, nude colours and plain fabrics. On rare occasions I opt for African prints.
Nature inspires me a great deal. I am always in awe at how we have millions of designs surrounding us in form of nature and so I always end up getting ideas of what to make whenever I think of nature. Sometimes, just sometimes, other designers’ work pushes me to do more.
What are your 2019 plans in terms of designing?
My plan for this year is basically designing smart but mostly crazy outfits. I want to have models to show my work to the world. I want people to acknowledge my creativity and perhaps inspire others to do more.
Who is your fashion icon?
My fashion icon is major Salvador, a Phillipino actress, model and singer. I like how she is always smartly clad with her classy outfits and simple heels. I love her straight black hair and makeup too. From her I learn that simplicity is beautiful. I learn how to accessorize in the best way possible too.

Luxurious, natural, vintage, classy and minimal
