Lady in Red | Claiming your Power

Red & Attraction

Psychology argues wearing red clothes can make women more attractive to men.

They say – the color red is strongly linked to desire and attraction.

Men are more attracted to women who wear red, and it seems that women who want to attract men do so by wearing red.

A world where everything women do is linked to men. Yawn!

Red & Power

But what about the corporate world? What about rocking red for purely business purposes.

I personally like the color red. I like it on myself, and I like it on others.

One would argue that is still attraction and desirability – and perhaps they would be right.

However, this kind of attraction is less physical – i.e. “I wanna sleep/be with you”; and more – “Wow. You look good! I wanna be in your presence and respect you!”

I find red to be one of, it not, the most commanding color(s).

If I see someone in a nicely fitting red corporate dress, I will definitely turn my head. It’s less about physical (sexual) attraction, and more about power dynamics.

Turning heads for me is more about power and influence, and less about wishing people were attracted to me.

So if you ever see me rocking red – know I’m in my power, and I have indeed arrived here at your location to take up space.

I wear red for business meetings and most important encounters. Influence is currency. Why not?

The type of red dress you wear will likely get different reactions from people. In this A-line; I expect nothing short of respect.

If I was wearing a red bandage dress on the other hand – yes I know I am sexy and you can get attracted to me. I will not reciprocate your attraction to me, of course; and I expect you to respect that.

Rock on your red dresses, and claim all your power darlings.

P.s. don’t mind me being on my phone. Life as a digital entrepreneur.

Happy Working Woman Wednesday!
