Thanks | Ntha Foundation Hub Launch

I’m reaching into the deepest parts of me. I’m trying to find all the right words. This should have been a speech – perhaps someday soon it will be. I wanted a cocktail launch, but time is not on our side, and we are still finalising many bits.

Perhaps we will have the cocktail event to celebrate soon – I trust we will have many moments to celebrate; but for now we start, and I write this letter to say thanks to you. Perhaps it is better written, so it stays engraved in your hearts.

I am so busy – I have been so busy. We have done so much, yet there is still so much to be done. Juggling running businesses and getting my masters degree has been far from easy.

I should be finalising some RFQs, and I have to prepare for a class soon, yet here I am overwhelmed and taken over by gratitude, bound by the relentless urge to express.

Yesterday, on the 19th of May, 2021, the Ntha Foundation opened the doors of its hub in Lilongwe for the first time to the general public.

We have come so far – 3 or 8 years in the making; depending on how you choose to see it. I have worked in the development sector since 2013.

Why I launched The NTHA FOUNDATION | Media Icon Of The Year Award

I have shared on my transition from being a part of the Lions Club International, to establishing the Ntha Community Foundation.

I have always been one to give back, and I have always tried to find the most impactful ways to do it. I am so grateful to have been a part of the Lions Club International, and the lessons I acquired in the necessity of giving back, particularly as black/African person from a third-world country.

I have so many years ahead of me to speak about this foundation – why it exists, who it exists for, and how it will be executed. For now, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has continued to show up on this journey.

Thanks to my parents, Lonnie and Phillip – for always enabling me to be the best I can be in this life. Thanks mom, for, first, sharing with me your absolutely brilliant brain, and secondly liberating me to dream, and always aim higher. Thanks dad, for being my anchor, and ever extending yourself to remind me, and all your children, that we are loved, and centred.

Thanks to Chimango – for being the best little/big sister a girl could ask for. You’re my centre in more ways than you can imagine. Thanks for giving me Zoe.

Thanks to Nzengo – my favorite problem child. You inspire me to work harder, and we at the Ntha Foundation hope you attain the Cyber Security degree soon – there are courses waiting to be taught by you here.

Thanks to David – for being my greatest friend, and helping me realise my greatness by affirming me in all the ways you do. Thanks for your brilliance; for listening, advising, and reviewing every idea and concept.

Thanks to Bernadette – for being my big sister. You annoy me, so much. Thanks for never turning your back on me. Thanks for always encouraging me.

Thanks to Nthangwanika – forever my protege; none of this could have been possible without all your hard work. If anything ever happens to Ntha 1, I hope Ntha 2 can take over and carry the legacy forward. This is my, as much as it is your creation. You hold a very special place in my heart.

Thanks to Wiza – that I am even able to write and share this here is because of all the work you do. My digital media dreams exist because you exist.

Thanks to Morton – it’s been a long time friend. We have worked so hard, and I hope soon we will be able to lure you back to us fulltime.

Thanks to Bill – the hands behind my dreaming. I visualise, you hear it; and execute. Every logo, and all the branding details. You’re brilliant, my friend.

Thanks to Ben – if I am ever called a media mogul, it’s because you put on pause to your photoshoot on that day in 2017, and listened. You have been listening, and you continue to show up, helping me execute my media dreams since. I’m indebted, for so long, friend.

Thanks to Matt – my favorite yo! Umatchenatu, aise. You are my heart. Thanks for always showing up, and helping me get things done. I appreciate you.

Thanks to Q – for being a very good friend, a mentor, and a listening ear.

Thanks to Godfrey – you’re my favorite fabulous friend. We’ll do so much, my love.

Thanks to Alex, Panji, and Geoff – for being there to run around now, and get things off the ground with me. Every inch of effort is appreciated.

Thanks to Ida, Beatrice, Ann, Alice, Rachel, and Wangiwe – for being great big sisters and mentors as I transition into, and grow professionally in this new chapter of my journey. I look up to, and am learning so much from you. I hope you know.

Thanks to all my mentors – and endless list, always making time, reviewing documents, advising, showing up, and guiding me; so I make less and less mistakes. I work smarter, because of your effort.

Thanks to all my friends – countless to mention. I continue to dream, and you continue to show up for and support me. I am so so grateful.

Thanks to all my followers – for coming along this journey with me for all these years, and supporting in all the ways you do. Your mere likes, engagement, shares, follows, subscriptions, and all the other ways in which you have supported me got us here in this moment in one way or the other.

Thanks to the Malawi Government, the World Bank, the Public Private Partnership Commission Malawi, and the Digital Malawi teams – for believing in a dream, and enabling us to execute.

I believe there is no better way to give back and empower people than through education helping people help themselves. I am committing the next few (or maybe many) years of my life to empower Malawians through digital skills education, and you have pushed us in the greatest way, to start. We intend to deliver, and serve Malawi for the long haul. We will not disappoint.

From the deepest parts of me, thank you so much.

All my Love,

Ntha
