I have spent this year “Launching” stuff. I have spent more time in front of the Mic that I care to admit. Here is my review of the year 2021.

We don’t really get to talk much about the imposter syndrome which comes with career switches, do we?

When I was told I had to set up a tech hub, it was a no-brainer that I had to set up the hub in Mangochi District. My focus was on the Eastern region, for personal, and statistical reasons.

It is 2247HRS. I am still working. Nthangwanika got here with a bottle of champagne. She said we are celebrating the launch of the Mangochi hub before I leave for Mangochi.

A few weeks ago, we launched the Musci4Malawi platform. We put out a call for applications, and only about 12% of them were female applicants. Of the selected for our first training – 4 were female, and 6 male. We had to investigate this.

I was invited by a colleague today to deliver a lecture at Lilongwe Technical College in Lilongwe an inspirational talk about Digital Entreprenership: my journey thus far – lessons and success, and what I think aspiring entrepreneurs hoping to get into the digital / ICT sector should know.

9 years later, I can finally say I am a part of the Tech Industry. Still a social scientist, but now solving social problems in the digital world.

Last night, we launched the Music 4 Malawi, through the Kwathu Upgrade project.

This Friday, 19th November, 2021, 10am – Segal Family Foundation | SIIMalawi is hosting a Spaces discussion: “The Road to 1 Million Jobs – Malawian Youth Weigh In” with Chimwemwe John Paul Manyozo, Wangiwe Joanna Kambuzi , Dineo Katane-Mkwezalamba, Vincent Kumwenda, and myself.
