Pallet Couches for Bachelorette Pads

Thinking of 10 reasons why a pallet couch may be the best thing for your bachelorette/bachelor pad was not a very hard task for me. I practically live on this couch now. It is 2am and I just woke up from a lovely goodnight sleep, and thought of telling you 10 reasons why I love this couch!

Seriously, I sleep here, work here, drink tea here, watch TV here, you name it. So if you are considering furnishing your bachelor/bachelorette pad, here are 10 reasons why you should choose a pallet couch:

1. It is affordable.

Making my couch was inspired by my creativity and a few pinterest ideas but the fact that it was soft on my pocket did not hurt. If you are a new bachelor/bachelorette furnishing a new home, or you have been one for a while but a bit tight financially, a pallet couch definitely is a cheaper bet.

2. You can make it yourself.

I saw the pallet couch idea on pinterest and thought to myself “Mhhh this looks cool and easy to make”. Then I went to ask a friend with a carpentry shop to make me one and he charged me a relatively ridiculous price (or I am just broke)! Whatever the case, the next step for me as to locate pallets and make me this damn couch. It took me a few weeks to pull everything together, but here we are!

3. Is it comfortable!

I am that girl that likes to jump on my couch, feet and everything – no restrictions. I want to sleep and roll over and twist and turn as I please. I am practically a dog where couches are involved (sorry mom). But guess what? Unlike most couches, this couch is flat so i can pretty much do anything I want on it! Comfy!

4. It is Wide

Where else are you going to find a sleep on couch that is wide enough to sleep on? A pallet is originally 100cmx120cmx15cm. If you do not manipulate it, your couch will be at least 1 metre wide. Talk about a couch you can sleep on. Yes yes I admit it, I like sleeping here.

5. You control every detail

My mother still can’t get a grip on why I have so many pillows on my couch or why they do not form a sensible pattern (at least to her). Making this couch basically meant all the details were up to me – how many cushions, thickness of the cushions, how many pillows, how long, how wide. If you look at the bottom of the couch you will even notice I cushioned it for my comfort (saying no to stubbed toes!)

6. It is adjustable

Yes it only gets better. Like some couches, you can adjust the length or style of your pallet couch. At the end of the day, they are just pallets. So yes today it can be an L-shaped couch… tomorrow separate couches and the other day a straight couch. You could even take off one or more pallets to create some space occasionally for God knows what you neeed space for.

7. There are no strange materials used in the making of your couch

And all the Malawians said amen! seriously, if you have bought a couch at “Mchesi” or some dodgy places, it is quite a fear when your couch starts getting old. Suddenly there is hair falling out of your couch, nevermind zigamba from your favorite tailor. Unless you are naturally dodgy and insist on putting strange things in your couch, this couch is neat to its end.

8. It gives your house a rustic yet sophisticated look

I like the “Tried but didn’t really try” look. Rustic all the way. Yes yes yes. This couch serves simplistic class.

9. You can change it into a patio couch when you are richer!

How many of us plan to be richer in like a few years? No way! Me too! So when we are richer obvs we also have to try and act the part (maybe) and God knows I am not letting go of this couch so patio couch it is. I have a feeling all my guests will not be complaining!

10. It is very pretty

Yes we can end it on a shallow end. Now all factors aside, you still want a home you are proud to show off to your friends and family – at times strangers! Pallet couches serve pretty all the way if decorated right.

And if you are feeling slightly lazy to make your own, feel free to drop me a message, I know a contractor (points at self).

All my love,

Ntha
